  • 1/2 pound ground meat
  • 1⁄4 cup chopped onion
  • 1 clove garlic, chopped
  • 2 tablespoons panko bread crumbs
  • 1 tablespoon chopped fresh oregano
  • 1 egg yolk
  • kosher salt and black pepper
  • olive oil
  • 1⁄2 cup tomato sauce or pasta sauce


Combine the ground meat, onion, garlic, bread crumbs, oregano, and egg yolk in a mixing bowl and season with salt. Form into 8 golf ball sized meatballs.

Place meatballs in the bowl and drizzle with olive oil. Place the lid on the smartbowl, seal the lid, and press the valve to release the air. Microwave for 4 minutes or until the meatballs are just cooked through. Add time in 20 second intervals.You may do this in two separate batches.

Carefully remove the Smartbowl from the microwave and add the tomato sauce to the cooked meatballs (no need to drain them). Place the lid on the Smartbowl, seal the lid and press the valve to release the air. Microwave for 30 seconds. Stir and enjoy!
